Veps Better Fallout 4

I didn’t know how else to name the mod to make easy to find and since this mod made the game a better game for me, I named it as Veps Better Fallout 4. No offense.

I have been changing the game according to my taste everytime something bothered me. I probably used all the gamebryo commands I have found to find out what is working, so had some very fun(!) times with those as well. I was already finished a few weeks ago but couldn’t get the time to publish. The mod comes with a big installer with options where user decides themselves what to/not to install.

Some options are probably considered as cheats but shouldn’t be aproblem since you are able to decide what to install. I tried to make all such settings/actions as optional as possible if they seem as cheating to me. I think things like easy unlocking or easy hack should not be considered as cheating, those damn mini games are just waste of time and will make you break something after a while.

I have been playing for some time with this mod and I believe I fixed all the problems or weird actions/reactions I have found, let me know as soon as you find any. As I said, I am publishing the very stable version only but it is also a lot of changes, it is possible that I forgot to correct a few things since I was testing them over and over again, sorry in advance. Hope some of you can enjoy the game with this mod as much as I do.

I will probably update the mod for more additions/changes so track if you want.

Move on if you don’t like it, no need for any comments. It is enough for me even if only one person likes it.

Follower Dismiss Messages
Follower Available Messages
Kickout Messages (messages if you are announced as a enemy of a faction after certain acts)
Artillery Messages
Hostility Messages
Workshop Attack Messages (Settlement under attack by …)

At first I thought I should redo all the item prices (making most of them worth less so that the player can sell them easier. I spent some time there to understand if and how Fallout 4 tries to balance the economy but as it seems I am not smart enough since I still don’t know exactly. May be it is balanced at some game difficulty or may be not, may be there was no plan and there is no logic here, some things did make sense, a few others didn’t. But I gave up, very difficult with the current modding tools for me. So no worries, I didn’t mess with critical settings, will leave that to professional modders if they haven’t done already.

1. All Vendors/Caravans has more Caps (OPTIONAL)

Optional, choose only one to install.

2 x More: Vendors/Caravans has twice as much base caps

8 x More: Vendors/Caravans has 8 times as much base caps
10 x More: Vendors/Caravans has 10 times as much base caps

2. Surprise Items (WIP]

Some Vendors has surprise/new/edited/modified items (all standalone) on them (value depends on items’ benefits, priced accordingly I think)

Currently added, 8 Weapons, 5 Armors/Outfits, 5 Hats, 8 Glasses, 4 Chems, 4 Rings

4. Inventory Content (WIP)

Goal is to adjust the Vendors Inventory accordingly (only a few will sell every type of item). No Changes will be published yet.

5. Caravans (WIP)

No Changes will be published yet.

6. Actors (WIP)

No Changes will be published.

1. Better Item Names (Recommended]

Somehow it bothered me to have a lot of items with the same names or irrelevant names in my inventory(Like “Note”, “Letter”,… See the Screenshots). So I renamed all such objects according to their content/relevance (corrected almost all notes, books, useless misc items) and treated a few similar misc Items (bobbleheads, models, mini games and magazines) as well.

2. Textures (choose one] (WIP)

Normal Textures
2K Textures (Recommended] 4K Textures

Please make sure you have some backups of your saves before you start the game after the first installation, just in case.

NMM will ask you which changes/options you want to install as described above. I should probably mention that you must start your game from NMM if you have the latest Official Fallout 4 Update and latest NMM Version.

Copy the esp files you desire to your Data Folder and activate it with some mod managers so that the Plugins can be added (NMM, YAFOMM, etc), or manually add the plugins.

All the files come with this mod must be under Game Folder (“…\Fallout 4\Data\”)

…\Fallout 4\Data\ veps*.es* files
…\Fallout 4\Data\Materials\Veps\…
…\Fallout 4\Data\Meshes\Veps\…
…\Fallout 4\Data\Textures\Veps\…

If you have the latest Fallout 4 Update:

go to your local Fallout User Folder (usually C:\Users\*YourUsername*\Documents\My Games\Fallout4)
A. Fallout4Costum Ini File has to have the following entries.
[General] bEnsureFileExists=1
[Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

B. Fallout4 Ini File should show no values for the following line (for some performance improvements)
[Archive] sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Enjoy!

Whenever I can.

F.A.Q.

Q. How stable/accurate is the Mod and Mod Installation, can I break my game somehow?
A. No, every possible option combination has been tested on both current official and beta Fallout 4 Updates, all stable. Textures/Meshes/Materials/etc. are standalone, so no overwrites as well. If you face any problems, it is “probably” because of some other mod/s you have installed or a new game update.

Q. Can I add the items to my inventory using the ingame console?
A. You will need the main files installed for that. And then yes, I wouldn’t recommend but sure you can, you will find the item codes in the Objectlist File (under Optional Downloads)

Q. I am not getting the correct amount of “…” as mentioned in this mod for some actions, why?
A. It was nearly impossible to keep a balance if I change them all, some changes have wider effects so I had to reconsider. (Like the effect from some specific game perks and items)

Q. Can you please add an Item similar to game item “X” with “X” specs to your mod?
A. No promises but let me know.
