Reloading Sounds Reloaded

There is currently no preview video because I am currently unable to make a preview video. Do not feel like you have to make a comment about this fact! Read a little before you write a little, it has already been said plenty of times.

ApocalypticGirl’s Reloading Sounds Reloaded
Version 1.0
——————————————-

(I tried to make a demo video with four different programs but couldn’t get any of them to do anything useful, sorry!)

Some of you may recall that I had made a mod just like this back for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. The tradition continues on with 4.

This simple mod replaces ONLY the reloading sound effects for the following weapons with reloading sounds from real life firearms:

10mm Pistol Sig P220 10mm
Deliverance Beretta 92FS (With optional Makarov sounds)
Combat Shotgun/Rifle FAL (With optional Mossberg 590 bolt sounds)
44 Magnum/Pipe Revolver Ruger Security Six
Double Barrel Shotgun Stoeger Condor II Double Barrel
Hunting Rifle JC Higgins M50 for bolt, M1 Carbine for mag sounds
Assault Rifle CETME G3
Submachine Gun Ruger 10/22
Pipe Semi-Auto Ruger SR40c
Pipe Bolt Action Magin Enfield .303, Bolt Mosin Nagant M44
Flare Gun Geco LP2 26.5mm
Dryfire PTR-32

Unfortunately there are some situations where the real weapon sounds aren’t as dramatic as the fictional game sounds, notably with the double barrel shotgun and revolvers. This comes down to preference, if you’d rather have the default or different sounds for any of these weapons it’s a simple matter of finding and removing or replacing the files in question.

Another issue is that many of these sounds are rather quiet, the likely scenario is that their volumes have been reduced through the main .ESM file as in previous Fallout titles. This is something which I will be looking into once the GECK becomes available, however this also means that an .ESP will be required down the road. The good news is that this will be an optional file.

Lastly, there are some sound entries which do not seem to be used at this point in time. Of note are separate sound entries for the pipe revolver and bolt open/close sounds for the assault rifle. Should any of these sounds ever find purpose within the game then I will happily update this mod to include them.

Compatibility
——————————————-

As this mod only changes the reload sounds it is fully compatible with any mod which modifies the firing sound effects, as well as any model or texture replacers.

This mod may not be compatible with any animation changes made to the weapon reloads, should this ever happen.

Known Bugs and Things Which I Can Probably Never Fix:
——————————————-

Well, Bethesda has done it again…

The pipe revolvers share sounds with the .44 magnum, however they do not share the same timing in the animations. This is only an issue when doing a long draw on the pipe revolver, it will have one extra ‘click’ at the end which isn’t timed to anything. By comparison this last ‘click’ is timed quite nicely for the .44’s long draw animation.

Anything which improves the rate of fire or reload speed may cause these sounds not to synch properly. This is especially noticeable in the pipe bolt action weapons (such as when switching to a .50 cal receiver.)

The dryfire sound apparently never plays. Oh well.

Installation
——————————————-

Extract the ‘Data’ folder to your Fallout4 folder. This can easily be found through Steam:

1 Go to your Steam Library

2 Right-click on Fallout 4, go down to ‘Properties’

3 Click on the third tab, ‘Local Files’

4 Click ‘Browse Local Files’

Next, if you have not already done so for other mods, you will need to edit your Fallout.ini file which should be located here:

5 c:\Users\*****\Documents\My Games\Fallout4

6 Find entry ‘sResourceDataDirsFinal=’

7 Add ‘sound\’ to the end of this line. Or, if you wish to make adding other mods easier, paste in this entire line: sResourceDataDirsFinal=strings\, interface\, sound\, textures\, meshes\, scripts\, music\, misc\, shadersfx\, programs\, materials\

8 Save your Fallout4.ini file and set it as Read-Only

——————————————-
Uninstallation
——————————————-

Simply delete the files. They can all be located within your Data folder here:

Fallout4\Data\Sound\fx\wpn

If you have any other weapon sound mods installed you will either wish to re-install them or make sure that only the sounds from this mod are removed.
