Legendary Lamps – Lights Lamps Pipboy Overhaul
Made with TES5Edit, Photoshop and many hours of head scratching.
Played many hours testing with no issues.
This mod gives you more control over how you want your lamps to look!
– Hundreds of possible lamp combinations!
– Increase lamp range from 50% up to 500%!
– Increase pipboy range from 30% up to 300%!
– Make Pipboy into a spotlight!
– Add shadows to your lamps!
– Change colour, brightness and pattern of your lamps!
Included is a simple to understand NMM installer with several variable options to control, such as pipboy spotlight mode, the lamp range and shadows, the low intensity dim lamps, the high intensity bright lamps and the Vault Boy lamp. Once you’ve chosen your desired range and shadow preference, you can then decide how each lamp will behave. Each can be changed to something different including other patterns, colours and brightnesses. It’s also worth noting that NPC’s with dim headlamps (such as Brotherhood Knights) will adopt whatever you choose. Settlement spotlights remain unchanged.

My personal preference for a simple, brighter and narrower selection of lamps is –
Unidirectional Pipboy, 300% Lamp Range+Shadows, MINING/PIPBOY Narrow, DIM Narrow, BRIGHT Narrow and GREEN Narrow.
The choices are laid out this way because of how the game calls for which texture to use. There’s only three files available for changing, so you have to pick specifically what you want.
This will mod replaces the raw data and displacement map files, but you can choose which you replace. Therefore, you can install a separate mod over the top of this one if you want, but it will render certain changes here obsolete. It’s pretty self-explanatory, if you choose not to tick a box in the Pipboy section, any other mods related to the Pipboy will function perfectly. Play around with it! The worst that could happen is something doesn’t work. In which case, uninstall and try a different configuration.
>>>INSTALLATION
Using Nexus Mod Manager will automate the process besides the ini edits below.
Alternatively open the zip file, pick the lamps you require and copy the “textures” folder into your Fallout 4\Data folder. Keep in mind you can only have ONE of each prefix – so one dim, one bright and one green. Duplicates will be replaced. Similarly with the range and shadow esp’s, copy just one .esp into your data folder. You can also pick one additional for the pink light if desired.
IMPORTANT:
As with other replacement mods you will need to make the following adjustments to your ini files in order for the game to recognize it.
Open up your Fallout4Prefs.ini file located in (C:\Users\**YOURPCNAME**\Documents\My Games\Fallout4)
You will need to add the following line below the section marked [Launcher]:
bEnableFileSelection=1
Save and close.
Open up your Fallout4.ini file located in (C:\Users\**YOURPCNAME**\Documents\My Games\Fallout4)
REPLACE this line below:
sResourceDataDirsFinal
with this line:
sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\
Save and close.
Only the textures bit is necessary, but if you’re going to be trying out a lot of mods then it’s worthwhile to allow all replacements now so you don’t have to do it in the future!
>>>DISCLAIMER
The actual modification is my own work but seen in some pictures is the X01 Re-texture by HugeBoomer (Minus the frame texture).
