Layerable Apparel and Armor 2.0 (Updated)

PSA: Please consider this mod to be in Beta testing and provide feedback and bug reports if you like it, I’m actively including user suggestions. I’ve used “free” equipment slots for the additional layers which may have one-time quest items or seldom used items attached to them which this mod interferes with but none are known at this time.

Overview of changes this mod makes to the game:
Adds new, equippable variations of Apparel to the game. Clothing can be worn in 3 layers, Underwear, Attire and Outerwear. Attire is regular clothes like jeans, shirts, most suits, dresses, Vault suits (but not “coverall” suits). Outerwear is coats and jackets, Jumpsuits and coveralls. Only one appropriate apparel item can be equipped to each layer, but all 3 layers of clothing can be worn simultaneously and beneath Armor (with varying degrees of clipping between Outwear and Armor). Underwear and Attire will not appear visibly on the character, allowing for Outerwear to be the visible Apparel but all 3 layers to apply benefits to stats. All cloth based apparel and underwear can be modified by the Railroad Weave and the Vault Tec lining at armor workbenches; this now includes all bandanas, gas masks, hats, outfits, and other apparel that are not mostly plastic, metal or synthetic. Armor and Power Armor can not be modified by the Railroad Weave or the Vault Tec lining. Cloth based apparel can not be modified with Leather or Metal Armor mods or Power Armor mods.

Update 2.0 adds bug fixes, another layer of *equippable* clothes and 12 new variations of Apparel items to the game including Auto Stimpack Long Johns and Sighted-Targeting Black Rim Glasses. Layering system is being expanded but only a single test piece has been provided because equipping the “Attire” layer unequips the Pipboy, so this layer of clothing can only be worn if using the Pipboy companion app. Please provide feedback if you would like to see the “Attire” layer of this mod developed further even if this glitch is not resolvable and the mod requires a companion app. If you’re not using the companion app, do not equip the “Terrible Covert Sweater Vest”, but everything else this mod does will only be broken in the way it’s intended to be.

Currently the 3 layered system is a test feature and the only available setup is:
Terrible Long Johns – Underwear
Terrible Covert Sweater Vest – Attire
Any regular Apparel item from the game – Outerwear

Otherwise the Long Johns can be worn under any regular Apparel item to create a 2 layered Apparel system

Regardless of how that turns out there are some functional-if-inexplicable unique additions, all can be purchased from Commonwealth Weaponry:
“Terrible Assault Gas Mask” that has the red filter on living creatures
“Terrible Black Rimmed Glasses” that will put a blip on enemy targets if they are sighted with a weapon (Recon Scope effect but works with all weapons)
“Terrible Long Johns” can be worn under any other Apparel.
“Terrible Gas Mask” that increases VATS hit chance (about 5% ?)
“Terrible Covert Sweater Vest” which can be worn as Attire, and which increases carry weight (only equippable with Pipboy companion app).

Gas Mask and Gas Mask w/ Goggles can now be equipped under most helmets and hats.

Both wedding rings can be equipped.

If you have any other suggestions please post them or message me.

Mod compatibility with other Apparel mods is unknown at this time but I suspect they will break what this mod does to bandanas, gas masks and some other smaller changes if they load after this mod. Mods that affect only Armor and Power Armor should not interfere with this mod.

Currently a work in progress. Please help troubleshoot, this is my first upload. Please use a subject line like “bug report”, “permission request”, etc.
