Inventory Improvements
Sick of sorting through the mess that is your inventory and personal chests? I was. So I made this mod! It adds prefix tags to a large number of items. This makes navigating your inventory and finding what you are looking for much easier!
[AID]
Alcohol – Pretty self explanatory.
Chem – Things you put in your body to make you forget about your dead wife and stolen child and everything you knew being replaced by an ever present haze of violence and death. Oh and they make you better at stuff. Also you can get addicted which is like…a total bummer…man.
Drink – Gives HP. May or may not give rads.
Drink II – Gives HP and bonus effect(s) (such as +AP, +SPECIAL stats, etc)
Food – Same as Drink
Food II – Same as Drink II
Med – Things that improve your well being in some fashion without the risk of addiction. Eat a whole bottle of Rad-X and inject 137 stimpacks? Go for it!
Syringe – Syringes for shooting at other things.
[MISC]
Bobblehead – Bobblehead
Holotag – A holographic dog tag. That’s what this is. What am I doing with my life? I swear a few of these little descriptions serve a purpose.
Holotape – The story of the people of the Commonwealth…and other things that are stored on holotapes.
Key – not a key. haha. just kidding, it’s a key. good times, right?
Mag – Perk magazines and rad comics.
Note – The same as a Holotape except with paper.
Password – Holotapes and Notes containing passwords.
PO – Public Occurrences
Quest – Items related to Quests
Useless – Items that have no value, interaction, or purpose. Literally useless.
[ARMOR]
Bandana –
Body – can be worn under armor
Dogmeat –
Eyes –
Head –
Outfit – cannot be worn under armor
I did not include individual armor pieces (chest, arms, legs) because the tags don’t work if the piece has been modded as this renames the item. I may need the GECK to fix this (and to ensure that the tag stays at the beginning of the name)
I did not (and will not) include [Weapons] because you can name them whatever you want (I recommend the ammo type as a prefix for each gun)
I did not include [Junk] or [Ammo] because…yeah, I’m just not going to do that. There’s no point.
The only mods that conflict with this are mods that change records on the same items.
For example: The mod Perfectly Preserved Pie Perfected changes the caps value and health restoration for the PPP.
– If you let PPP’s plugin load after InvImp’s plugin you will see the value/health changes but not the “Food -” tag.
– If you let InvImp’s plugin load after PPP you will see the “Food -” tag but not get the value/health changes
Thankfully, creating patches for other mods is incredibly easy!
– If you use a mod that changes any of these items and need a patch, just let me know so I can download the mod and make a patch! Simple as that 🙂
– Once a patch is made for said mod: load order doesn’t matter as long as the patch loads after both this mod and the other mod. Make sense?
NMM/MO: Install and activate as you would any other mod.
Manual: Why aren’t you using a mod manager? In any case move the Inventory Improvements.esp into (steamapps/common/Fallout 4/Data)
Uninstall: bby pls no :(…if you must, simply deactivate through your mod manager or delete the .esp from your Data folder.
Note: This mod is safe to uninstall mid-save. You will still get the warning about missing content the next time you launch the game, but I assure you there will be no negative effects from loading the save. All your item names will revert to normal and you can have your messy inventory back…you heathen.
[FUTURE PLANS]
– I want to add Chest, Arm L, Arm R, Leg L, and Leg R tags, but again as soon as you modify the armor the tag disappears. Once the GECK releases I will be looking into properly applying persistent tags to the [Armor] section.
– I’m considering expanding this to the DATA tab to sort quests by Main, Side, Radiant. May release as a separate mod as that isn’t really “Inventory”. (I haven’t actually looked into this yet and may not do it if it’s going to screw up quests somehow. Should be doable though)
[FAQ]
Ok, no one has actually asked any questions. So I’ll just preemptively answer questions I think I might get.
Q: Can you make a patch for [insert mod here]?
A: Read the Compatibility section.
Q: You mislabeled/missed [insert item here] A: That’s not a question…but yeah, let me know if I messed anything up! It was a lot of records to go through!
Q: How is this different than [insert sorting mod here]?
A: I scoped out the available sorting mods and was generally dissatisfied. They either had way too many tags (which, to me, is counter-intuitive to simplifying the inventory) or were lacking in certain areas. Ultimately it’s a matter of opinion and you should choose whichever one makes sense to you!
Q: Can I install/update/uninstall mid-game?
A: Make sure you read every mod’s description page carefully!
