Fallout 4 Graphics Upgraded With First PC Mod
Ahead of the long-awaited Fallout 4 release date, one enterprising fan has already created a PC mod for the game that will improve its graphics.
The Enhanced Wasteland Preset, created by a modder going by the alias ‘Razed,’ is said to improve the open-world game’s lighting and textures with a mod file that appears to be less than one megabyte in size.
According to the mod’s description, “the goal of this preset was to slightly add more vibrance to the wasteland environment in Fallout 4 and make it appear less washed out. There is also usage of other settings that I think make the game look better.”
A series of screenshots, demonstrating the extent of the graphics comparisons, can be found below.
Ever since Fallout 4 was first revealed, two weeks prior to E3, the game’s graphics has been a topic for debate. In August, Bethesda marketing chief Pete Hines responded to graphics criticisms, saying it “definitely doesn’t upset us.”
“I mean, certainly it ought to look and feel familiar,” he said. “If you played Fallout 3 you ought to be able to see things that are recognizable or similar or whatever. Because we didn’t make a completely different game. But at the same time, when you’re playing it it’s a mix of familiar and different. There are things that are the same and there are things that are very different.”
Fallout 4’s release date falls on Tuesday, November 10 across Australia, the UK, and North America. GameSpot’s Fallout 4 review can be found through the link.
