Disable NPC Comments When Waiting for Player Input
Disable NPC Comments When Waiting for Player Input by KhaoMaat
The What:
This is a small modificaton with one sole purpose; Disabling NPC impatience while in dialogue, where they ask you to speak every 20 seconds while they are waiting for player input/your next dialogue choice.
Choose between 4 different version with the new FOMOD-installer:
One year
One hour
One minute (per request by user ‘hamper’)
Constant pestering
The How:
The mod accomplishes this by use of an .esp file which edits a record using FO4Edit (3.1.3 – a4ba437), changing it from default 20 seconds to 1 whole year.
The Why:
Personally I get stressed out of having to listen to NPCs asking or telling me this and that while I’m preoccupied with figuring out what I’m going to say.
Neither default or the change in this mod is very realistic, though to me this is by far the more immersive choice.
NPCs will feel less dumb, quite frankly.
Anything else I need to know?
There should be no incompatibilities or issues with game stability, with reservation for that this was made using a very early release of FO4Edit so nothing is for certain. To get this going just make sure that you have file selection enabled (bEnableFileSelection=1) in Fallout4.ini, so that you can load this .esp file into your load order. Just use NMM or maybe Mod Organizer (I have no idea of its state for Fallout 4 though).
Changelog:
[1.2] – FOMOD-installer with 4 options for amount of time until comments; 1 year, 1 hour, 1 minute and constant pestering.[1.1] – Decreased time NPCs wait until making a comment from 1 year to 1 hour.
[1.0] – Initial release. Increased time NPCs wait until making a comment from 20 seconds to 1 year.
Do also have a look-see at my first Fallout 4 mod, Quest Summary by Default – Spoiler-Free Quest Log, which in a similar vein makes a change to something which annoyed me too much – that of the quest log defaulting to animations instead of the quest summary all the time.
