Companion Carry Weight Modifications

This mod increases the carry weight of your companions by either 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 4000, or 128000. My aim was to implement this as cleanly as possible and so I magnified the effect of the magazine Live & Love #3 Trim the Fat, where in the vanilla game it increases your companions carry weight by 10. This means that you will have to first find the magazine Live & Love #3 Trim the Fat to increase your companions carry weight.

This mod also patches the bug where the Live & Love magazine perks do not effect Cait, Curie, Dogmeat, MacCready, or Preston Garvey. If you are planning on installing this mod in an ongoing play-through please install and execute the Curie Live & Love magazine perk patch bat file in the optional files section. Curie doesn’t seem to update Actor Effects at all if applied to an existing save game. The only way of adding Actor Effects to Curie in an existing save game that I have found is applying it through the console. That is where this bat file comes in, please look at the FAQ for installation instructions. If you are installing this mod in a new play-through then you are not required to do this.

FAQ

Q: How do I install the Curie Live & Love magazine perk patch if I am installing this mod in an ongoing play-through?
A: Place the LiveNLoveMagazinePerkPatchCurie.txt file in your “Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4” folder. When in-game open up your console (bound by default to your “`” key) and type in “bat LiveNLoveMagazinePerkPatchCurie” and press your “Enter” key. You are only required to execute the bat file once, after which you can delete the file.

Q: Where can I find the magazine Live & Love #3 Trim the Fat?
A: Live & Love #3 Trim the Fat can be found at WRVR broadcast station as shown in the images tab.

Q: How do I enable mods for Fallout 4?
A: Please see Gopher’s video, FALLOUT 4: Enabling Modding for PC (UPDATED).

Q: How do I install this mod via NMM?
A: Install it as you would any other mod, when the FOMOD menu pops up select (only one) companion carry weight fortification and click the “Finish” button. If you are installing this mod in an ongoing play-through please download and use the Curie Live & Love magazine perk patch in the “Optional Files” tab in order to patch the bug for Curie. If you are installing this mod in a new play-through then you are not required to do this.

Q: How do I update this mod?
A: The easiest way to update the effects of this mod on a companion (once the mod files have been uninstalled) is to dismiss that companion and to move at least 5 cells away from the settlement you sent the companion to (5 by default, varies depending upon your uGridsToLoad value). For example I can leave my companion(s) at the Sanctuary Hills settlement and run to the Museum of Freedom (in Concord, you don’t actually need to go inside the Museum of Freedom, just outside of it) and then run back to Sanctuary Hills and my companions will be reset.

Q: How do I uninstall this mod?
A: If you installed via NMM then use the inbuilt uninstall function. If you installed manually then delete the relevant .esp file in your “Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data” folder. Q: Is this mod compatible with custom companions?
A: This mod will effect any companion that has the Actor Effect “AbMagLiveLoveCompanionPerks “Live and Love perks” [SPEL:001C63E2]” who is also a part of the HasBeenCompanionFaction [FACT:000A1B85] faction.

Q: I want a more immersive experience, but I still want to effectively increase my carry weight, do you have any suggestions?
A: Based upon Gopher’s video, Mod Vault #16, I can recommend isathar’s mod, Personal Pack Brahmin. It looks like a great mod to me, however I’m personally looking for something lighter on my game, and so I came up with this.
