Fallout 4 Loot Reduction – UPDATED

Description:

Have you ever thought it was odd that 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse that there is so much left to loot, a lot of it untouched prewar items? This mod aims to address that.

This adds a reduction in loot such as Chems/Meds, Junk, Clean Clothes, Bobby Pins, Water and Food. Be sure to let me know if there are any issues or bugs.

It also edits the text dealing with containers, it removes containers psychically telling the player their empty and what lock difficulty they are, for immersive purposes, as why pick a lock if you know a container is empty?

Current Settings:

‘Pre-war’ container items reduced roughly by 95% where applicable.
Chems/Meds reduced roughly by 85% where applicable.
Bobby Pins reduced roughly by 85% where applicable.
Clean Clothes reduced roughly by 85% where applicable.
Pre-packaged Food reduced roughly by 85% where applicable.
Purified Water reduced roughly by 85% where applicable.
Explosives reduced roughly by 85% where applicable.
Ammo reduced roughly by 75% where applicable.
Guns in containers reduced roughly by 95% where applicable.

How it works:

I edited a number of Leveled Lists and added or increased a ‘Chance of None’ value to some of them, but most of them now have items replaced with levelled lists containing the original item, but with a chance of none modifier.

Items now with a 65-95% chance of none include but are not limited to:

Leveled Lists with these words in the name I excluded making changes to for all of the above:

“Vendor”
“Shop”
“Vault”
“Reward”
“Lock”
“Gift”
“Companion”
“Robot”
“Turret”

Saved/Existing Games:

You will not see any difference until you go to an area you have never been before or when the cell resets for those areas that you have, which by default takes about a week.

Amount of testing done:

Loaded the game up, ran a small early save, no crashes, ran around a little checking containers near the starting area, was still more there than I would have thought, but I recall Skyrim’s starting area had more hand placed items detached from leveled lists than the rest of the game. The rest is up to those who download this and give it a shot. So reports are welcome.

Mods that compliment this one:

Longer Area Respawn.
JRavens Item Weight Mod.

Install:

Extract the .esp file into your Fallout 4 Data folder and use a mod manager to activate it.

Update Instructions:

Same as above, just overwrite the old ESP file.

Permissions:

Planning an overhaul or realism mod and want some of the leg work done? Feel free to use my work as a modder’s resource. Version 0.6 has a framework of levelled lists with a chance of none setting for many existing in-game items and were integrated in the place of these items in several instances, which took some time and could save you some as well in larger overhaul mod.
