Pleasant UI
Overhauls User Interface to make it more user-friendly and compact. Fallout 3/New Vegas inspired.
ALPHA STAGE
[player’s HUD is done, a lot more to come. See the development section for more info]
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I==HUD changes==I
[HP BAR]
Added vertical bracket line
Scaled text and rad symbol
Compass is now here, resized, markers work different:
Quest markers are little squares on the bracket, without filling if this is a door. If you’re close enough to a quest target, the marker will go down and show a distance. Player marker is a small “I”, in line with location markers, distance removed.
[AP BAR]
Added vertical bracket line
Ammo count realigned
Grenade counter and light icon are here
Critical meter revamped, moved here, bank stars too
[LOOT WIDGET]
Placed below crosshair
Shrinks down to look like a normal active item when empty
Center alignment of items
New selector
[CROSSHAIR]
4 modular versions:
LEGACY := Fallout 3 / New Vegas crosshair style (-[2]-). Always visible, very simple animation with opacity changes.
DOT3 := current HUD style (-[1]-). Dot is always visible, custom nice animations when transiting between stages.
DOT1 := current HUD style (-[1]-). Dot is hiding when weapon is holstered. This version is for 1st person view gameplay, because there will not be any dots when aiming in 3rd person view.
VANILLA := standart Fallout 4 crosshair, but scaled down a little bit to match the new style.
[OTHER ELEMENTS]
Enemy HP bar on the bottom, scaled names
Stealth indicator is scaled, moved, brackets changed to “”
Left top messages scaled, moved, background is removed
XP meter redone to be like the other bars
Vault-boy animations scaled
Grenade, car icon and direction hit marker scaled
VATS enemy resistance information scaled, moved
Scope “hold breath” hint disabled [optional]
Some other small changes that I forgot

Nexus Mod Manager (recommended)
1. Download the mod file with NMM
2. Install
3. Go to “Documents\My Games\Fallout4” and open Fallout.ini with any text editor.
4. Find this line
sResourceDataDirsFinal
and add “, INTERFACE\” without quotes next to it. It may be already done by NMM, just make sure “interface” is there. Example:
sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, INTERFACE\
5. In the same Fallout.ini find these lines
fSafeZone…
It’s HUD corner positions for 3 different monitor sizes, X and Y coordinates. Bigger numbers mean the HUD elements will be closer to the center. Edit all of them if you don’t know your monitor size. Recommended values:IMPORTANT values:
fSafeZoneX=23.0
fSafeZoneY=21.0
fSafeZoneXWide=23.0
fSafeZoneYWide=21.0
fSafeZoneXWide16x10=23.0
fSafeZoneYWide16x10=21.0
6. Save the file and play
MANUAL
Put 0-Main folder files, one of the 1-Crosshair\”TYPE” and 2-ScopeHint file [OPTIONAL] into Fallout 4\Data\Interface. You have to get 3-4 new files into Interface folder.
Do ini file changes described above
*** You may consider removing opacity from the HUD to make it more visible ***
UNINSTALL
Remove mod files from Fallout4\Data\Interface
Restore SafeZone values in fallou.ini : [15.0 , 15.0 , 64.0 , 36.0 , 64.0 , 36.0]
COMPATIBILITY
The mod includes few separate custom files, nothing can be broken. You can combine PUI with other mods that doesn’t have hudmenu and vatsmenu files. Otherwise, a last installed mod will replace them. So just install PUI after other UI mods to get it working.
Pleasant UI aims to revamp whole UI to make it more “pleasant” for PC players. The mod will have:
modular system that allows to move, disable and use alternative versions of every UI elements (mainly HUD)
in-game setting, that allows to adjust HUD and UI (like a button to temporary disabling HUD for immersive gameplay)
external mods support (to show mod parameters on the UI, like hunger)
Initial alpha content: first version of HUD, 4 alternative versions for crosshair, “proof of concept”

FUTURE PLANS TILL 1.0:
[x] Make a poll to structurize feedback
[x] Better fonts
[x] Continue to revamp UI
[x] Alternatives for simple HUD elements, like stealth bar
========================================================
I will update this section shortly (tomorrow) to make it show current mod status, next update features, likely working ideas, etc.
[The update will turn this section into feedback response, which I’d try to supplement every day]
========================================================
Known issues:
Probable elements clipping between a subtitle and 3-position container
Forgot about the favorite menu (duh) [next hotfix]
More than 9 grenades are clipping [next hotfix]
CHANGELOG in the same named section on Nexus.
Tools used:
JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler – to edit swf files and scripts
Paint.Net – to create mockups, to place shapes precisely, to view screenshots
The mod was very hard and time consuming to make. There is no good tool to edit HUD, every possibilities were discovered by blindly trying everything. PUI initial alpha was redone from the scratch 3 times because another one “possibility” break something sneaky in game scripts.

I need help to fix typos and mistakes in the description, because I’m far away from a native english speaker. If you want to help me with something, or even to join my development process, I’d be very glad. PM me then.
Decay – Reshade Preset by nedellis used for the screenshots. (Love this reshade, mild version)
My other mods:
LessHUD mod – vanilla HUD with some disabled elements. Contents a bunch of versions,
